Nothing too crazy, just stuff to make you smile, make you appreciate your body, make you appreciate the world that we live in, smile, make you appreciate your body, make you appreciate the world that we live in. And I'm using this episode because I feel like sometimes we just need to chill, you just need to hear something positive and nice, and I want this episode to be one of those things. Maybe this episode could serve as a tool where, one day, you just need a little pick-me-up. This is the episode for you. Alright, I'm going to get right into it, because I'm super excited to share this list that I have compiled for everyone today.
Speaker 1:Okay, so the first few facts are going to be about the human body and the way our bodies work and how just absolutely amazing our bodies truly are and how. I don't think we always appreciate this machine that is keeping us alive and allowing us to do everything that we do every single day. All right, numero uno, you're made up of 37 trillion cells and each cell has a specific role to help you function the way you do. Number two some cells can literally talk to each other across long distances within your body and they do this by sending chemical signals to each other in the bloodstream. Three cells respond to their environment and they can change their behavior by adjusting which genes they express, all due to being exposed to an environment. Number four your brain, okay, generates enough electricity to power a small light bulb. Let's just take that in for a second. Number five your brain can store the equivalent of 2.5 million gigabytes of information. Okay, so next time you call yourself stupid, check yourself, all right. Nerve impulses oh sorry. Number six nerve impulses travel faster than a formula one car, which can go up to 250 miles per hour. That's wild. That's how fast signals travel within our own body, within our brain. Okay, number seven your brain has more, which are known as synapses, than there are stars in the galaxy. Okay, just touch your head for a second. Okay, think of all the connections going on in there. More than the stars in the galaxy, man, that's absolutely amazing, alright.
Speaker 1:Number eight your heart beats over 100 hundred thousand times a day. And think about this. Your heart has beaten every single second since you were born without a break, like, if that's not wild, I don't know what is All right. Number nine the heart can still be outside of the body. Your heart has its own like electrical system, so it's independent, it's doing its own thing and it's keeping you alive. Number 10, your heartbeat can change depending on the music you listen to, which is kind of cool. So just comes to show everything you hear and stuff does truly impact your body.
Speaker 1:Number 11, the skin replaces itself every 28 days or so, so that's pretty cool. Your skin's regenerating all the time, so you're always shedding new skin. Use this as an opportunity to think all right, new skin, new habits, new me, whatever. You want to use this fact for. Number 12, you have over 600 muscles in your body. I don't think like, just wrap your head around that. 600 muscles and 13,. Your tongue is actually made up of eight different muscles, so don't take your tongue for granted. Number 14, your stomach acid can dissolve metal. That's how powerful it is. Just think of how amazing it is that your body has stomach acid which can dissolve metal, but it has come up with a mechanism to ensure that that acid doesn't harm the rest of your body. So think of how intricate and how well planned out and thought out your whole body is.
Speaker 1:Number 15, you take around 20,000 breaths a day and you don't even think about it 20,000 breaths a day. Number 16, your lungs contain about 300 million alveoli. So alveoli are the things in the lung to help with, like, the exchange of oxygen and stuff. But this amount of alveoli, if you were to like lay it all out, it gives like the surface area of a tennis court. So think of a tennis court and like, collapse it, whatever onto itself and then fit that in your lungs. Just like look at your chest cavity. Right now I feel like I could not wrap my head around some of the things that I read sometimes. Anyway, number 17, your nose can remember 50,000 different scents Isn't that wild? 50,000 different scents Isn't that wild? 50,000 different scents Appreciate next time you smell something good, bad, anything. And next time you smell, just give your nose a little bit of appreciation there.
Speaker 1:Number 18, your body produces millions of white blood cells every day to help fight infection. So even when you are not thinking about it and you're talking down at your body, it's still producing white blood cells and fighting for you. Number 19, your liver can regenerate. So you can lose up to 75% of it and it will still grow back. Number 20, your gut cells replace themselves about every five days. So just think about this. We're not thinking about any of this. That's happening and everything's just replacing itself, renewing, evolving, always changing. So your body's got you man. 21, your skin cells completely renew about every month. 22 your body knows how to fight infections, rebuild muscles and balance a countless number of systems, and you're not even thinking about it. Okay, your body's doing all this and you're worried about what happened at work yesterday, how you embarrassed yourself, tripping on whatever and nobody even noticed. Just think of everything your body is doing for you right now. 23. The odds of you being born exactly as you are are estimated to be 1 in 400 trillion. Okay, if that doesn't scream to appreciate yourself for who you are, then I don't know what will.
Speaker 1:All right, I'm going to move on to some facts that just made me, when I read them, appreciate kind of the world around me, number 24 being that trees actually can talk to each other through underground fungal networks. Are you joking, isn't that? That's just so cool. Number 25, bees recognize human faces. They can also dance to tell other bees where to find food. I don't know, that's like the cutest thing I've ever heard. Can you imagine like a bee dancing to like tell the other bee that like hey, there's food here. Anyway. Number 26, forests can lower your blood pressure and boost your mood just by being in them. So go outside.
Speaker 1:Number 27, you are moving through space at 67,000 miles per hour, even if you're just sitting doing nothing. Just take that in. 28. There's a super massive black hole in the center of our galaxy and it doesn't seem to scare us, so we just go about life anyway. And it doesn't seem to scare us, so we just go about life anyway. Just by the way, it's a giant black hole somewhere in the galaxy.
Speaker 1:Number 29, daydreaming isn't always laziness. It's actually linked to problem solving, empathy and innovation. So next time you're daydreaming, just take a second to appreciate. It's your body, kind of forming connections, problem solving, trying to put a bunch of thoughts together, it can be a good thing. Number 30, humans are the only species that tell stories, so we can actually shape reality through imagination. I think that's pretty cool. Storytelling is such a big thing in our culture and just not our culture like in our evolution as a species. So appreciate it. Appreciate all forms of storytelling, whether it's through a song, through a poem, through writing, through just speaking it. It's honestly something very cool and and learn to learn to appreciate it all right now.
Speaker 1:These last 10 facts are just random facts that I hope make you smile. Um, because they honestly brought a smile to my face and I just wanted to share them to kind of spread the joy and help you today if you need to smile. So the first fact from this 10 list, from this list penguins propose to their mates with pebbles. This, I don't know. This just made me so happy. So, yeah, they propose to their mates with pebbles. This, I don't know. This just made me so happy. So, yeah, they propose to their mates with pebbles. And once penguins are paired, they usually stay together for life. This just made my heart melt. It was honestly the cutest thing I've ever heard.
Speaker 1:Anyway, your laughter is unique. It's kind of like a fingerprint, and the cool thing is, even babies can recognize that their parents laugh and they know like which laugh belongs to their parents and stuff. So if you hate your laugh, maybe use this fact to learn to appreciate it. Your laugh belongs to you and nobody else, but you All, right. Number three sea otter holds whoa, let me repeat, sea otters hold hands while sleeping so that they don't drift apart. Are you kidding me? Like? This brought a little tear to my eye. This is so cute. Anyway.
Speaker 1:Number four trees can recognize their family and will sometimes grow their roots around their relatives. Instead of competing for resources, even trees are supporting each other. Man, okay, we need to be supporting each other out here. So, anyway, trees recognize their families. That's pretty cool. Number five dogs can catch human emotions so they can sense when you're sad and often try to comfort you, and my dog does this. If I'm crying, she'll come and like, lick my tears, and it's just the cutest thing ever. Animals are just so in tune and we can honestly learn a lot from them. So, yeah, all right. Number six there is a species of jellyfish that's biologically immortal, so it just keeps rejuvenating itself. Isn't that so cool. There's like something out there that's actually immortal and that just just it just keeps living. Just imagine everything this jellyfish has like seen in its life. Like that's wild. Anyway, uh, I think I'm at number seven.
Speaker 1:Cows have best friends and they get stressed if you separate them from each other, like I'm just, I don't know why all these things are so cute. Like the cows have best friends, like talk about, talk about being cute. I think we all know this. Next fact, but it is just a little reminder Every snowflake you've ever seen is one of a kind, and just think about that when it snows, think of all the like, the pure number of snowflakes falling. They're all unique. Not a single snowflake is the same. And that's just part. That's just one of the many like things that just make you wonder about how great and vast this world is. So just thought I remind you all of that fact. Okay, number nine and I definitely experienced this one.
Speaker 1:There's a phenomenon called cute aggression, and it's when you feel like squeezing something because it's just so cute. So you feel this way, because your brain is just so overwhelmed with joy, like it doesn't know what to do with all that joy, so it like resorts to aggression, acute aggression. And listen, I feel this way to my dog all the time. I just want to squeeze her and there's just. My brain is just lighting up left and right and I just think it's amazing. So if you ever have that feeling, just think of how cool it is. Your brain has just so much joy. It just has to dump it. It doesn't know what to do with it.
Speaker 1:All right, and last fact for this episode, something to take away to make you feel a little happy in your heart Right now, somewhere in the world, someone just smiled because of something you'll never know that you did, whether it was a small act, a kind word. You said just your existence, something that you did, and they were watching. You didn't even realize they were watching. They're probably smiling because of you. So if you're ever feeling down or insignificant or all those things, just remember there's someone out there that's smiling right now because of you, whether you know it or not. So those are all the facts I wanted to share for today. Like I said, this was a different format episode. I had a lot of fun putting together or finding all of these facts and putting them together to share with you. They made me smile, they made me look at my day on the brighter side, and I just hope it did the same for you.
Speaker 1:Anyway, thank you again for tuning in. If you are a fan of the show, I would love it if you could potentially leave a review. Let me know what to improve.
