SPEAKER_01:

What's up, beautiful people? Welcome back to Vito with Alita. I'm Alita and today first episode of 2026. Woo-hoo. And today is one of those episodes where I'm going to go through New Year resolutions I have. And I'm going to preface this episode by saying, firstly, I am a believer in New Year's resolutions. And secondly, if you didn't hear my last episode, I kind of talk about how I look at New Year's resolutions and how we should be looking at them as rather than like a rigid goal, it's something more related to your identity. And with that in mind, I came up with 26 New Year's resolutions for 2026. And I kind of wanted to share them maybe to inspire you to show you maybe what a new resolution is for me kind of looks like. And you'll kind of notice that some of these are very broad, some are very specific, but none of them are very rigid, maybe one, but nothing crazy. Things that, in my opinion, in my life today are I think achievable. And I also want to make sure I remind our beautiful, your beautiful ears here that just because I have a goal doesn't mean you need to have it. Just because I think I might be able to achieve something doesn't mean you have to achieve it. Make goals based on where you're at in life, what's even important to you in your life right now. And maybe you don't even want to make goals. That's totally okay. I personally like listening to other people's new resolutions. So I thought I'd do the same and I make my own little list. And I also am using this for personal selfish reasons to document things I've maybe I'm aiming for. And then funny enough, at the end of the year, maybe I'll I'll revisit this list and we can go through together if we were able to achieve our goals or not. Now, this is not a perfect list. These are just the first 26 things that came to mind when I sat down to write this list. And you'll see that they're not really all fitness related, or like very few are fitness related. A lot of them, but I'm kind of in this phase of my life where I'm trying to be where I'm trying to increase my overall well-being and health. And I was hoping to to reflect that through this list. And I'm also just hoping to you'll see. You'll see. I'm not gonna talk too much about it, but of course, word of the week before we get into our wonderful list is salutary. Salutary? Salutary salutary. I think it's salutary, but S-A-L-U-T-A-R-Y. And this is good for health and well-being or well-being. So I'm hoping that through this list it's going to be a salutary list. Things that are going to be salutary to me. To my mood, to my life. Alright, I'm gonna jump right in. Numero Uno. I am hoping to in this new year say one kind thing to myself a day. And this goes hand in hand to reminding myself every day of one way I showed up for myself that day before bed. What does that look like? Let's say I had a really down day, not much going on, something happened, I don't know, life, but the only good thing I did for myself that day is brush my teeth. I'm gonna remind myself of that that day. And I'm doing this as a way to maybe build more confidence in myself and to remind myself that I am showing up. Especially on those days where maybe you feel like you're not your best. So that's one. Two, I want to work on my cardio and VO2 Max. We had a whole episode about the importance of cardio, and I'm not gonna lie to you, I've been slacking. So we're gonna work on cardio, and I left it at that. See how broad this goal is, work on cardio. I know it could be specific, and when I sit down and make a plan for myself, I will be, but the resolution is to work on cardio so that it's achievable. Anyway, let's move on. Three, one cup of coffee a day. I'm already pretty good with this, but I would just this is something I would like to continue and take with me into the new year. Number four, I would like to limit my slick back uh hairstyle to once every two weeks. And this may seem very specific, but as someone who's maybe looking to improve their hair health, slickbacks seem to be very bad for you and like your scalp, so and they're just I just do them all the time. They're so convenient, but hopefully I can limit it to once every two weeks. Even maybe once a week, but for now we'll start with once every two weeks. Number five, I want to hopefully read a total of 15 books in the new year. Minimum. I'll say minimum, 15. If it's more, it's more. If it's 15, it's 15. For the book genre, again, I kept it very open as long as I read at least 15 books in the new year. Or yeah, at least 15 books. Alright, number six, I would like to continue journaling at least three times a week. Again, very broad. I'm already journaling and I'm doing pretty well with it, and I personally enjoy it. I want to keep going in the new year. Number seven is probably my most rigid goal for myself. My most rigid goal, which is to upload 52 podcasts, to upload one podcast a week. I told myself I'm gonna take my podcast a little, I don't want to say more seriously, I already take it seriously, but I want to make sure that I'm consistent with it because it's something I do enjoy doing. So I would like to upload 52 podcasts. Alrighty. Next, number, I think we're at eight right now. Number eight, I want to spend more time with my parents. And this one, I think I already do my best to spend as much time as I can with my parents, but more time, you know, it's always a few things in 2025 made me realize how precious life is, and you just want to remind yourself of how lucky you are to be surrounded by the people you love while they're still here. So spending more time with my parents is definitely on the list. And this goes hand in hand with my next one, number nine. And this is to check in on my friends more often. I told myself maybe at least once a month, I even put a reminder on my calendar to do this. I am friends with a very wonderful group of friends, but we all tend to get very busy and we don't see each other or even speak to each other for months. And no one holds it against anyone, but I personally would just like to check in on them more often. They are people I care for, and I think that by checking in on them, I remind them and myself how much I truly care for them. Number 10. This is related to climbing. I am a climber, I don't know if I've ever said that, but I would like to do more lead climbing. I am certified, but due to time, due to just maybe laziness, I've kind of been slacking, and now I'm starting to become scared. And you know it's rough when you start becoming scared. So I want to kind of break that fear, do more lead climbing every opportunity that I can. See, simple. Every opportunity that I can, I will hopefully lead climb. Alright, number 11, a little financial health for us. Uh, I would like to save at least$1,000 a month on average. This one's personal. This is, I think, what works for me. I'm gonna leave it at that, but I would just like to save a little more money for myself in 2026. Okay, 12. I kind of touched upon it. I'm gonna just let my hair grow out. I've kind of been doing this in 2025, but I'm really just gonna let it grow. I would love long, long, lashes hair. That's kind of where I'm envisioning myself for 2026. Number 13. I'm gonna wear my glasses more often. So, yes, I wear glasses, but I usually always wear my contacts. I've kind of gotten into this thing where I don't really like my glasses and whatever, but I'm trying to reconnect with my glasses self. So I'm going to wear my glasses more often. Whatever that means. Hopefully that means my contacts are limited to like once or twice a week rather than every single day. And I think it's just better for my eyes. My eyes get very irritated by my contact lenses, so wearing my glasses more often. 14. I would like to get my nails done more often. Maybe not get done, but like at least do my nails more often. Currently, I think this past year I've done my nails once. Because of working out and climbing and all those things, I just find it easier to keep them short and just bare. But recently I've been appreciating a more polished look. So I'm going to look into doing them in a way that it can work with my current lifestyle whenever I can. So, like I said, just get my nails done more often to enhance my or to actually add to this polished look I'm kind of aiming for for myself. Alright, number 15. I would like to try fasting a minimum of two times per month. What does fasting exactly mean? Maybe I'll start with like intermittent fasting, and then if I like it, do a more I don't want to call it strict, but we'll call it strict. A more strict fast. I've read a lot about fasting and its benefits, not just for your body physically, but even just for like your discipline. And I think maybe I'll do an episode on fasting. But anyway, I would like to try it, but I think doing it once per week right off the bat is a lot. So at least two times per month seems pretty reasonable minimum. I could increase it if I want to. I also told myself if I absolutely hated it, I would stop. But for now, at least for January and Feb, maybe two times a month, just to see how it goes. Alright, number 16. I would like to try at least five new foods. So I'm somebody who's very habit-based. I just stick to what I like, what I know. And my stomach is kind of sensitive, so I'm always weary about trying new foods. But but I would like to try at least five new foods for 2026. I think it's why not, right? So let's do that. Alright, number 17. I want to continue aiming for 10k steps a day. This is something I'm pretty good at, but I want to continue doing that. 18, I would like to try a workout class. Believe it or not, I've actually never done a workout class. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've never done a workout class. So trying a workout class would be pretty cool. They're literally offered at my gym, and I literally see them all the time, and they look super, super fun. I've just never tried them. So I would like to try at least one workout class this year. Number 19, when possible, I would like to keep my dinner on the lighter side. And this is something probably not rocket science, and you've probably noticed it too. But in my personal life, when I eat dinner late or I eat like a heavy meal later, my sleep's not as good. My heart rate's elevated, I'm trying to digest, I'm just not sleeping as good. I just don't feel as good. And I don't even wake up feeling that good. So I would like to keep my dinners lighter, maybe have my heavier meals earlier in the day. And in this kind of resolution, I said when possible because I know social things happen and life happens. I'm not going to be super strict about it, but when possible and it's in my control and it's just another normal day for me, I'd like to keep my dinner as light as possible. Okay, I hope you can appreciate at this point that these resolutions did not come in any specific order. I realize I'm a little bit all over the place, but hey, that's what we're here for, as long as I get them out there. Alright, on to our final six. So our big 20. I would like to make use of the mindfulness app on my watch. So every single day, don't get me wrong, I get a notification for the mindfulness app where it just tells you to take a second to breathe or like log how you're feeling or whatever. And I always dismiss it and I don't really I don't really think twice. I would like to make a conscious effort to actually use the notification. So it's already coming on my phone and my watch, so I would just want to make use of it. And this is what I'm doing in an attempt to increase my mindfulness, my presence. Just, you know, why not make use of it? It's there. Alright, 21. I want to teach my dog three new tricks. So my little girl, Chanel, I love her. Unfortunately, we did not teach her anything new since she's been a puppy. So she's learned all her basic, you know, spin, jump, not even jump, sorry, sit, lie down, paw, whatever. But we haven't really taught her anything new, and I think I'm gonna make the effort to teach her three new tricks in 2026 because she deserves she deserves it. She's a cutie. Okay, number 22. I would like to make an effort to print photos and to make photo albums, and this resolution came to me because I was looking for something in the basement, and then I saw a bunch of my mom's photo albums, and they were just so nice. It was nice to flip through them and kind of see her life through those photos. And I know we have all the photos on our phones, like I'm telling you, I think I have like 13, 15,000 photos on my phone. It's absolutely horrible, but when do you ever go through them? Or when do you like they don't it's almost meaningless the photo? So I think by taking the time to go through the photo and pick the ones I would like to print and then putting them in an album, A, I'm kind of going through the memory, and B, I'm picking. I'm kind of continuing the legacy of photo albums. I just I like them. I want to keep them, I want my kids to see them. It's a good time. So yes, I would like to print photos and make albums. Alright, 23. I would like to eventually go through my closet and drawers, declutter, clean them out as much as possible, at least once this year. And decluttering has been shown to kind of help improve your mental space. So if there's ever a time, I think like mid-year when things start getting sluggish to kind of reboot and reset, maybe I do a little decluttering, spring cleaning, we can call it. And yeah, I like to do that at least once this year. Number 24. This is a big one for me, and this is something that came to me especially over the holidays. And this is to eat until I am full, not when my plate is empty or not when my stomach feels like it's about to explode. I don't know if someone's gonna laugh at this, but I've had so many instances over the holidays where I kind of regretted how much I ate. Like a lot. And it made me realize, like, why am I not just eating until I'm full? I can still indulge in all my favorite foods, but why am I being so gluttonous about it? And I'm not usually someone who restricts a lot daily, but I guess I was taking advantage of the holidays and I fell into that mindset of like, well, I might as well because I already whatever. So I would really this one's I think the most important one for me. I really want to just eat until I'm full. Once I'm full, I'm stopped. Even if my plate is not empty. Even if I'm gonna miss dessert or whatever, I miss one of the meals being offered. I'm just gonna eat till I'm full. And I really hope this one I can be a little more rigid with it. Alright, 25. This is not to pick at my skin. Yes, this is a bad habit that I have. I sit and pick at my skin, and then I wonder why it's red and I'm breaking out. I just gotta remind myself not to. Hopefully by the end of 2026, we don't do this anymore. Alright. Last but definitely not least, 26th New Year's resolution for 2026. I have to remind myself that I am on my own path. Might be very broad, might be very generic, but there are a lot of instances where I feel like I spiral and I fall into this rabbit hole of I'm not doing enough, I'm not this, I'm not that, I'm the other. Is you know, is is that person like better than me? Is that person that person, that relationship, that job, that whatever. I'm on my own path. I don't know everything going on in other people's lives. And this is something I want to make a conscious effort to remind myself of, so that by the end of 2026, I'm hopefully in a better mind mental space where I am truly embracing and appreciating my own life and its story rather than always comparing myself. Alright, well, those were my 26 new year's resolutions, my goals, my identity shifts, my whatever you want to call them. I hope you took a little something away. Maybe you were inspired, maybe you were just entertained. But I wish you all a very happy new year, and I know 2026 is going to be wonderful. I can just feel it. There's probably a lot in store for all of us. I'm wishing you all the best, and I'll see you all next week. Take care. Bye bye.
